How to Shop Sustainably through the Holidays

How to Shop Sustainably through the Holidays

For the holidays, it gets tricky because we are asked to buy a lot at once. This is unnatural. But there are ways to offset some of that carbon footprint, and I'll give you a few I suggest to my readers.

• Look for certifications. Fair Trade, GOTS, Oeko-tex, Organics, Recycled. Start there if you are looking to buy something new for your loved ones.

• Buy in bulk, and in one place. Costco and Sams Club memberships come in handy here. Try to limit your driving, your online shopping sprees, and your budget by grabbing a big stack of whatever it is you want to give. It could be cute Pjs (everyone loves those), organic cotton funky socks, knick knacks that come as a set and can be divided.

• Make a Craft. I have a list of crafts that anyone can do that are made from recycled cans and fabrics.

• Even better, plan a craft day with your loved ones and provide the recycled materials. Now they can put their personal touch to it, you have another day with your loved ones and it will not break the bank.  These are a few ideas, I have hundreds. Would love to hear from you.
